The President of Kuapa Kookoo has announced that the union is rolling out a number of programmes aimed at empowering and improving the lives of cocoa farmers in the country.

Paul Celestine Kojo Buah says the union has agreed to enter into a cocoa partnership programme initiated by Cadbury Ghana, to enable farmers benefit from sustainable production in the cocoa sector.

He added that the union was also partnering CNFA Ghana to build the capacity of cocoa farmers and subsequently enlist their support to help revive the Kuapa Kookoo Credit Union over the next three years.

Mr. Buah made this known at the fifteenth Annual General Meeting of the Union in Kumasi.

He appealed to the farmers to approve a constitution that puts together ideas of farmers drafted two years ago.

“In our resolve to build a new organisation for ourselves, we promulgate a new constitution to effectively address issues affecting farmers” he said.

He says this will enhance democracy within the organisation and was hopeful that the document will be able to stand the test of time.
